Knight strikes in Chess960
The knight is the one piece that moves the same way in every position on earth: two squares and one, leaping over whatever stands in its path. It attacks along a geometry no other piece shares, which is why a knight can hit a king and a queen at once, or land on a square nothing can challenge.
That makes the knight oddly at home in Chess960. The shuffle that disorients bishops and rooks leaves the knight’s movement untouched; what changes is everything around it — the squares worth reaching, and the targets waiting there, all sitting in unfamiliar places.
This ranking collects the positions where a knight delivers the decisive blow and places the most lethal leaps first.
